About Rishikesh:
Rishikesh is located just 24 kilometers from Haridwar, nestled in the foothills of the lower Himalayas and surrounded on three sides by the scenic beauty of the hills, with the sacred Ganga flowing gracefully through it. The entire area is considered holy, as it is believed that meditating here can lead to the attainment of salvation.
The riverbanks are lined with numerous temples—some ancient, others more recent—adding to the spiritual charm of the town. Rishikesh holds immense significance not only as a pilgrimage site closely linked to the Ramayana, but also as a center for Hindu philosophy and spiritual wisdom. It is widely renowned as one of the greatest hubs for Yoga and meditation in the world.
With a multitude of ashrams and yoga institutes, Rishikesh offers seekers a serene and transformative environment. It also serves as the gateway to the revered Char Dham Yatra, marking the starting point for pilgrimages to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
Depart for Barkot via scenic Mussoorie with a visit to Kempt Falls (time permitting). Check-in to your hotel/camp in Barkot and relax for the day, preparing for your Yamunotri trek tomorrow. Dinner and overnight stay at Barkot.

About Barkot:
Barkot is a serene town nestled in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, situated along the tranquil banks of the Yamuna River. Surrounded by lush green hills, it serves as the base town for pilgrims journeying to the sacred Yamunotri Dham, located just 48 kilometers away.
This peaceful town, classified as a Nagar Palika, is both spiritually significant and naturally beautiful. It is well-connected by major highways—NH-123 and NH-94—making it easily accessible while maintaining its untouched Himalayan charm.
Note: On Day 2, expect 3-4 hours for hill permit clearance and transport arrangements for the Chardham Yatra.
After breakfast, proceed towards Hanuman Chatti (40 km) and then to Janki Chatti (8 km), the starting point of your first Pahad Yatra to Yamunotri—a 5 km trek. You may hire a Doli or a horse for the journey (at additional cost).
The trek offers a picturesque route through lush green valleys adorned with conifers, rhododendrons, cacti, and diverse Himalayan flora.
Upon arrival in Yamunotri by afternoon, take a holy dip in the Yamuna River, perform puja rituals, and soak in the spiritual ambiance. Later, return via the same route to Barkot, check-in at your hotel or camp, and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

About Yamunotri:
Yamunotri Temple is nestled in the serene western region of the Garhwal Himalayas, at a height of 3,291 metres above sea level,is the westernmost shrine of the Char Dham circuit and lies in the shadow of the majestic Bandarpunch peak (6,361 meters). in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, this sacred shrine marks the origin of the holy Yamuna River, which is revered as the divine daughter of Surya Dev (the Sun God) and sister of Yama (the God of Death).
The temple houses a beautiful black marble idol of Goddess Yamuna, and is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites of Uttarakhand, attracting thousands of devotees during the yatra season. The temple was originally built in the 19th century by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur, though it has been reconstructed several times due to damage from natural calamities.
The actual source of the Yamuna River lies 1 km ahead of the temple, at the Champasar Glacier, situated at an altitude of approximately 4,321 metres. However, due to its inaccessibility, pilgrims worship at the temple itself.
Surrounding the temple are natural thermal springs, most notably the Surya Kund, where devotees cook rice and potatoes tied in cloth, which is later offered as prasad. The entire region is infused with spiritual energy and set against the backdrop of majestic snow-clad peaks and thick alpine forests, creating a deeply tranquil and divine atmosphere.

Uttarkashi & Vishwanath Temple
Located on the banks of the sacred Bhagirathi River, Uttarkashi is a revered pilgrimage center often regarded as the northern counterpart to Kashi (Varanasi). The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the oldest and most famous temples in Uttarkashi. According to tradition, the temple was originally constructed by Sage Parshuram and later renovated in 1857 by Maharani Khaneti, wife of King Sudarshan Shah. The temple houses a Shivling measuring 60 centimeters in height and 90 centimeters in circumference.

Uttarkashi & Vishwanath Temple

Along the trail, pilgrims chant "Jai Bholenath," as mist occasionally shrouds the mountains before unveiling the dazzling, snow-capped peaks piercing the sky. About Kedarnath:
Kedarnath Mandir, one of the holiest Hindu temples, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in the Garhwal Himalayan range near the banks of the sacred Mandakini River in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. Situated at an altitude of approximately 3,583 meters (11,755 feet), it is one of the highest and most remote temples in India.
The temple is part of the revered Char Dham pilgrimage circuit and holds a special place as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, which are considered the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiva. According to legend, the Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata sought Lord Shiva to absolve themselves of the sins committed during the war. Shiva is said to have evaded them repeatedly and finally took refuge in Kedarnath in the form of a bull. The temple’s unique architecture and spiritual significance draw thousands of devotees every year, especially during the summer months when the pilgrimage season opens.
Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and dramatic valleys, Kedarnath offers a deeply spiritual experience enhanced by the pristine natural beauty of the Himalayas. The temple itself is built from large, heavy, and evenly cut grey slabs of stones, showcasing ancient craftsmanship that has withstood centuries of harsh weather.
Pilgrims often undertake a challenging trek of about 16 kilometers from the base town of Gaurikund to reach Kedarnath, passing through dense forests, waterfalls, and rugged terrain. Many choose to hire ponies or palanquins (doli) for the journey.
The annual pilgrimage culminates with the winter closure of the temple, when the idol of Lord Shiva is moved to Ukhimath for worship until the next season. The temple’s remote location, combined with its profound religious importance, makes Kedarnath a unique destination that inspires devotion, peace, and reverence.
Early in the morning, rise before dawn and, after a refreshing bath, arrive at the Kedarnath Temple by 4:45 am to witness the sacred Abhishek ceremony of Lord Shiva. Devotees are welcomed inside the Garbha Griha (sanctum sanctorum) where they can personally touch the idol and offer their prayers, including prostrating with their heads touching the deity.
Following the darshan and puja, you will exit the temple and return to your Camps or Lodges to freshen up. Later, begin the return trek of approximately 20 kilometers from Kedarnath to Sonprayag. Upon arrival, your vehicle will be waiting in the Sonprayag car parking area to drive you back to your hotel in Sitapur, Guptkashi, or Rampur.

This morning, after checking out of the hotel, you will drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. Enjoy the scenic journey along the beautiful Ghat roads until you reach Badrinath. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and take some time to rest and refresh.
In the evening, prepare for your visit to the sacred Badrinath Temple. Before entering the temple, take a holy bath in the nearby Tapt Kund, a natural hot spring believed to have healing powers. The temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, stands 15 meters tall and is uniquely designed in the shape of a cone, topped with a small gilded bull and spire.
After completing your darshan, return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Badrinath Temple
Badrinath, also known as Badrinarayan Temple, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Located in the picturesque town of Badrinath in Uttarakhand, India, this temple holds immense spiritual significance as one of the four sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites, as well as one of the Chota Char Dham destinations.
Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of approximately 3,300 meters, Badrinath Temple attracts thousands of devotees every year who come to seek blessings and experience the divine presence of Lord Vishnu. The temple’s unique architecture features a striking 15-meter tall structure shaped like a cone, crowned with a gilded bull (Nandi) and a spire.
The temple’s sanctum houses the iconic black stone idol of Lord Badrinarayan, considered to be self-manifested (Swayambhu) and exquisitely adorned with colorful garments and flower garlands. According to legend, the name Badrinath is derived from the 'Badri' or berry trees that once flourished abundantly in the area.
Badrinath is not only a spiritual haven but also a symbol of faith and devotion, offering visitors breathtaking Himalayan views and an unforgettable pilgrimage experience.
This morning, proceed for the sacred darshan at Badrinath Temple. After the darshan, return to the hotel for breakfast. Post breakfast, embark on a local sightseeing tour of Badrinath, visiting the charming Mana Village, the historic Vyas Gufa (cave), Ganesh Gufa, and the Mata Murti Temple.
In the afternoon, begin your journey back to Srinagar, passing through the scenic towns of Karanprayag and Rudraprayag. Rudraprayag, a quaint pilgrimage town, is located at the holy confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini, adding spiritual significance to your journey.
Upon arrival in Srinagar, check in at your hotel. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Mana Village:
Mana is a serene village located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, perched at an altitude of 3,200 meters. It holds the distinction of being the last Indian village situated near the Indo-China border, offering a unique glimpse into the remote Himalayan landscape and culture.
Vyas Gufa:
Located 5.5 km from the Badrinath Bus Stand, Vyas Gufa is an ancient cave on the banks of the Saraswati River in Mana Village, Chamoli district. It is traditionally believed to be the sacred spot where sage Vyas composed the epic Mahabharata with the divine assistance of Lord Ganesha. One of the temple’s unique features is its roof, which resembles the pages from the sage’s holy manuscripts, adding to the spiritual aura of the place.
Ganesh Gufa:
Ganesh Gufa is a revered cave located near Mana Village, believed to be the meditation site of Lord Ganesha. This sacred cave is a popular pilgrimage spot, attracting devotees who come to seek blessings and experience the spiritual energy associated with the elephant-headed deity.
Mata Murti Temple:

After breakfast, drive to Haridwar with an en-route visit to Devprayag, the sacred confluence where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers merge to form the holy Ganga. Arrive in Haridwar by afternoon and check in to your hotel. After some rest, visit the revered Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi temples. In the evening, attend the famous Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, a mesmerizing spiritual ritual on the banks of the river. Overnight stay at the hotel.

About Haridwar:
Haridwar, nestled at the foothills of the Shivaliks in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district, holds deep spiritual significance. According to legend, the Suryavanshi prince Bhagirathi performed intense penance here to rescue the souls of his ancestors, who had perished due to the curse of sage Kapil. His prayers were answered when the sacred river Ganga emerged from Lord Shiva’s locks, its life-giving waters reviving the sixty thousand sons of King Sagar. Following this tradition, devout Hindus stand in Haridwar’s holy waters, praying for the salvation of their departed elders. Haridwar is considered the gateway to the origins of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, which rise at altitudes of 3,000 to 4,500 meters in the snow-capped central Himalayas. The evening ‘Aarti’ ceremony on the banks of the Ganga, where floating diyas (lamps) illuminate the river, is a profoundly moving and sacred ritual.
After breakfast at the hotel, you begin the final leg of your Chardham Yatra journey with a drive back to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be transferred to the railway station or airport for your onward journey.
