Start your day early with a scenic flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot, a journey of approximately 40–50 minutes soaring over the breathtaking Himalayan foothills. Upon arrival in Simikot, you’ll have a few hours to rest and acclimatize before boarding a helicopter for a short 10–20 minute flight to Hilsa.

Once in Hilsa, gather with your fellow travelers and embark on a comfortable drive to Purang, your gateway to the sacred Tibetan plateau. Settle in for the night at a carefully chosen accommodation such as Hotel Nyima or Tara Hotel, known for their warm hospitality and peaceful ambiance—perfect for resting before the next stage of your spiritual journey.

After reaching the serene town of Purang, take this day to rest and let your body adjust naturally to the higher altitude. This essential pause helps ensure you are physically ready for the challenges ahead on the Mount Kailash Parikrama.

While in Purang, you can explore the local marketplace, where vendors offer everything you might need—from sturdy trekking poles and water containers to refreshments and travel supplies. It’s a great chance to pick up any last-minute items while soaking in the peaceful surroundings of this remote town. Friendly haggling is part of the experience here, so feel free to negotiate prices with a smile.

As the journey deepens, so does your connection to the divine. This morning, we board our comfortable AC bus and begin the sacred drive from Purang to the revered Lake Mansarovar—a journey not just of kilometers, but of lifetimes.

As the snow-dusted peaks accompany you along the route, a first distant glimpse of Mount Kailash will stir the soul—suddenly everything becomes real. With reverence in your heart, you arrive at Mansarovar, the lake believed to be created by Lord Brahma himself.

Upon arrival, we begin the Parikrama (circumambulation) of Lake Mansarovar by vehicle—an approximate 105 km circuit that takes 2 to 3 hours. Then comes the sacred moment: take a holy dip in the pristine waters, and perform your Puja and Sankalp at the lake’s edge under the open sky, with Mount Kailash watching silently from a distance.

In the evening, rest in the guest house located near the lake. If the skies are clear and your heart is ready, you may walk out again at night or during Brahma Muhurta (pre-dawn hours) to witness the ethereal calm of Mansarovar—a moment that imprints itself on your soul forever.

After your sacred rituals at Lake Mansarovar, the yatra continues with a short yet significant drive to Darchen — the base town for the majestic Mount Kailash Parikrama and the gateway to Ashtapad, believed to be the very seat of Lord Rishabhdev’s Nirvana and one of the holiest spots in Jain and Hindu traditions.

If permitted by Chinese authorities, we may visit Ashtapad, where devotees believe they can witness the feet of the gods imprinted on the earth. The energy here is subtle yet deeply powerful.

Darchen, situated right at the foothills of Mount Kailash, is where you prepare for the next and most profound part of your journey — the spiritual circumambulation (Parikrama) of Kailash.

Spend the evening resting, acclimatizing, and soaking in the divine presence of the mighty Kailash standing tall just outside your window.

Rise with devotion as the first day of the Mount Kailash Parikrama unfolds. After breakfast, embark on a short drive to Yam Dwar—the “Gateway of the God of Death”—a deeply spiritual threshold where all material attachments are symbolically surrendered before walking in the presence of the divine.

From Yam Dwar, begin the 10 km trek to Dirapuk, guided by the majestic vision of the North Face of Mount Kailash, considered the most auspicious darshan of the entire journey. Each step here is not just a trek but a moving meditation—toward clarity, transformation, and moksha.

Those who opt not to do the Parikrama will return to Darchen, a short 30-minute drive away, where they will stay comfortably in a guest house for two nights. From Darchen, Mount Kailash is clearly visible, and one can perform puja and meditative practices while feeling connected to the sacred mountain.

Important:
Parikrama is optional and varies based on individual health and spiritual intent.

• Some pilgrims walk the entire route.
• Others may take the help of a horse (available at additional cost).
• Elderly yatris or those not feeling well can choose to stay back at Darchen.

At Darchen, arrangements for meals, lodging, and darshan from a distance will be taken care of by our team. Those staying in Darchen will reunite with the rest of the group after the Parikrama concludes.

On this most spiritually and physically demanding day of the Kailash Parikrama, we begin our trek from Dirapuk at dawn, journeying 22 km across one of the most revered high-altitude passes in the world—Dolma La Pass (18,600 ft or 5,600 meters).

The first 6–7 km stretch is the most challenging, with a steep ascent that tests not just the body, but the will and the spirit. At the summit of Dolma La, pause in reverence. You are standing where many rishis, yogis, and seekers have surrendered their egos to the Divine. This is the axis mundi—a crossing from the material to the celestial.

Just beyond the pass lies Shivasthal, the sacred Tibetan site where pilgrims offer symbolic items—representing their worldly attachments—with faith that their prayers are carried to higher realms.

As we begin the descent, you’ll catch sight of the ethereal Gauri Kund, where Goddess Parvati is believed to have meditated. From there, the trek becomes more gentle and serene, following a quiet river that flows beside us all the way to Zuthulpuk.

This leg of the journey offers glimpses of the East Face of Mount Kailash, less seen, yet equally majestic—each view a divine darshan etched in memory.

Overnight Stay: Lodge / Guest House at Zuthulpuk
Experience: Crossing Dolma La Pass, Darshan of Gauri Kund, Shivasthal offerings, and glimpses of Kailash's East Face.

On this final and fulfilling morning of the Mount Kailash Parikrama, you’ll complete the remaining 8 km trek from Zuthulpuk—a relatively gentle walk compared to the day before, taking about 3 hours. Most pilgrims complete the trek by 9:00–10:00 a.m., filled with a deep sense of accomplishment and inner stillness.

From here, we drive back to Darchen, where you'll reunite with fellow Yatris who stayed back. The joy of reunion after the spiritual solitude of Parikrama is often as powerful as the Yatra itself.

Together, we begin our journey back—driving towards Dongba, passing through awe-inspiring Himalayan landscapes that now feel more sacred, having been touched by Mount Kailash.

Experience: Completion of Parikrama, sacred reunion, and spiritual reflection en route to Dongba.

After completing the divine journey, we begin our return home—carrying with us the sacred vibrations of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. Drive from Purang to Hilsa, then board a helicopter to Simikot. From Simikot, take a scenic flight back to Nepalgunj.

Upon arrival, a comfortable AC coach awaits to drive you to Lucknow, where the journey had first begun—but your spiritual transformation has only just begun.
